Nova Medical Centers is the parent company of Nova Specialty Hospitals (NSH) and Nova IVI Fertility (NIF). It currently operates 12 specialty surgery centers and 8 fertility clinics. Established in 2009, Nova develops, acquires, owns and operates short-stay surgical centers in partnership with surgeons across India and the Middle East (in partnership with the OMZEST group). Nova was co-founded by Suresh Soni, Dr. Mahesh Reddy, a renowned shoulder surgeon and the GTI Group, based on a “doctor-owned and doctor-managed” concept enabling doctors to have a sense of ownership and a long-term association with the company.
Nova, a pioneer of short-stay surgical care in India, comprises all surgical procedures that allow patients to return home the same day or within 2-3 days of the surgery being performed. Specialties at Nova include Bariatric Surgery, ENT, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopedics, Opthalmology, Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, Spine Surgery, Stem Cell Therapy, Surgical Oncology and Urology.
Leading surgeons from diverse specialties with comprehensive ultra-modern facilities, innovative health services model offers unparalleled quality and affordability at Nova. Nova also manages a hospital, Nova Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital, focusing solely on Orthopaedics, Spine and Rheumatology in New Delhi, in partnership with world-renowned group of surgeons from New York, London and Germany.
In 2011, Nova IVI Fertility Clinics was formed in partnership with IVI (Spain), which is the largest IVF group in the world and a world leader in Reproductive Medicine with 22 centers across 8 countries in Europe. Nova IVI Fertility has made commendable developments in Indian Healthcare in just over two years of starting operations, and thus lives up to Nova’s vision of being the foremost infertility treatment center.
A key aspect that sets Nova apart from other hospitals is the “asset light” approach. Hospitals were historically considered to be capital intensive and long gestation investments with one of the main investments being land and building. The co-founders realised the fallacies of the heavy investment model and made a significant shift in healthcare delivery – leasing facilities as compared to buying. This made initial investments lighter, ensured faster healthcare delivery (concept to actualization) and return to shareholders and investing doctors making the Nova model the first of its kind.
The business model of Nova has three key fundamental components: increase access and affordability of quality healthcare, offer investing doctor substantial equity participation in the centers and to have scalable multi-specialty centers. Nova’s vision is to create a novel institution that stands for excellence in healthcare services by providing the best patient experience & is an international reference for clinical outcomes.
